Waiting waste is when nothing is happening to the material or product: the Value Creation Process stands still. This means finishing the product later than possible, thus creating overhead and binding cash which cannot be capitalized.

Examples:

  • Semi-finished product waiting for the next process step
  • Material waiting to be released
  • Material waiting due to long changeover
