The Sequence Method (or Motion-Step Method) is a Poka Yoke technique that prevents and detects errors stemming from an improper sequence of events. It makes sure that the prescribed steps of the process are being followed in a certain order.

Examples:

  • Component boxes that open one by one in the sequence of process steps once a part is taken out (light barriers)
  • Aircraft lavatories where the lock of the lavatory must be turned in order to switch on the lights
