The concept of Reach Zones helps designing good Desk Layouts. When talking about Reach Zones one should bear in mind that the ideal working position requires a neutral neck posture to be maintained as much as possible. This can be ensured by positioning parts and tools on the desk according to their frequency of use.

There is a primary zone which is close to the body and the secondary zone:

  • Primary Zone: the ideal location for all work carried out on a regular basis. Place the working point and the main tools here
  • Secondary Zone: the place for less frequently used parts, tools and fixtures
