The Contact Method is a Poka Yoke technique using a part’s physical attributes such as its color, shape, size, dimensions or weight to prevent or detect errors.
Examples:
- Color-coding for cables and connectors (e.g. between your computer and monitor)
- Dimension sensors (e.g. a mesh only letting items of a certain size through)
- Weight sensors (e.g. used to determine whether a product is missing pieces)
